With a remarkable 37-year career in public accounting, Steve is ready to slow down, explore new adventures, and revisit hobbies that have taken a back seat. He advises his clients to ease into retirement and not jump into anything new too fast; he now must take his own advice!
Before joining Froehling Anderson, Steve built a successful 20-year career at another accounting firm. Transitioning after such a long tenure wasn’t easy, but Steve credits Froehling Anderson for making it seamless. After a business lunch and a round of golf with some of the partners, Steve knew he’d found the perfect fit. From that day forward, he became an integral part of the Cobalt Team.
Steve’s passion for staying ahead of the curve in tax law and planning has been a defining aspect of his career. Leading seminars for professional associations and private vendors nationwide has been one of his many contributions to the field. But now, Steve is trading the complexities of tax codes for spur-of-the-moment travels with family, warmer climates, and a well-deserved break from the daily grind.
As he adjusts to his new routine, Steve has plans to tackle house projects, enjoy golfing and biking, and return to a passion that preceded his accounting career: freelance trumpet playing. Having performed for Broadway shows in Minnesota and countless weddings and events, Steve is eager to pick up his horn again for more gigs.
Steve’s parting words of wisdom for the Froehling team are rooted in his deep respect for the firm’s culture:
- Never underestimate the value of company culture.
- Maintain a healthy work-life balance.
- Check your ego at the door.
- Treat everyone with respect, regardless of their experience level.
These values, which Steve believes Froehling Anderson exemplifies, are what make the firm so unique. As he looks back on his career, Steve hopes to be remembered as someone who inspired the next generation of partners and staff—both professionally and personally.
Thank you, Steve, for your incredible contributions to Froehling Anderson. You will be greatly missed, but we are thrilled for you as you enter this exciting new phase of life. Congratulations and happy retirement!
