Dan Hainlin joined Froehling Anderson in 1997 as a leader in the firm’s Tax Department. In this role, he has overseen the tax and consulting needs of closely held businesses, families, and individuals alongside an incredible team of colleagues. Dan enters retirement this summer leaving a legacy of enthusiastically helping clients and developing and fostering the firm’s culture.

Where It All Began

Starting his career in public accounting in 1985, Dan quickly discovered his reason for what he does and why he does it – “When it comes down to it, I simply have a passion and dedication for what I do.” He has built his respected career by going the extra mile for both clients and colleagues. Ask anyone at Froehling Anderson and they will resoundingly say, “When Dan decides to do something, he does it with his whole heart.”

With his career spanning 41 years, including 29 years at Froehling Anderson, Dan prioritized guiding clients toward solutions that make the best sense for them. He is proud of his work helping clients minimize their taxes, navigate the challenges of family businesses, and achieve success through merger and acquisition transactions. Dan says, “I have been blessed with really wonderful clients that I have truly loved working with for many, many years: good clients that are great people.”

Retirement Plans

As Dan steps away from his tax and consulting work, he will dive into a brand-new line of work: retirement. Plans for this new chapter include traveling with his wife, Kathy, spending intentional time with family and friends, sampling the latest additions to the Twin Cities’ restaurant scene, and continuing to focus on health and fitness to enjoy all that retirement has in store.

While Dan looks forward to living life on his own schedule, reflecting on everything he is looking forward to in retirement also underscores what he will miss about his career. Dan sincerely shared, “I will struggle with the loss of my daily interactions with the great team members and clients of Froehling Anderson.” After 29 years of successfully helping recruit, hire, and mentor many of the employees at the firm, Dan hopes he influenced not only their careers, but also their personal growth.

Words of Wisdom

Reflecting on the memories and relationships that have shaped both his career and life, Dan leaves the Froehling Anderson team with some words of wisdom:

  • “Strive to be a good problem solver and use this skill to help improve the lives of others.”
  • “Have FUN and enjoy working in your career; life is too short to be unhappy at work.”

Lastly, Dan shares, “We have a great firm culture that has developed over the years, and I believe that culture has driven our success. I like to think that I have played a part in fostering this culture through my day-to-day actions and leadership.”

Dan, on behalf of everyone at Froehling Anderson, thank you for your heart, dedication, passion, and leadership. You have shaped not only our firm culture but each of our lives, and we are better because of it. You will be greatly missed around here, but we’re also celebrating you as this next chapter approaches.
