Dave originally got started in the accounting industry when he worked as an internal accountant for a closely held retail business while he was in college. This is where he learned how a proactive CPA can help business owners achieve their financial goals.
The first five years of his accounting career was spent as a generalist doing audit, accounting, and tax work. Upon completing his Masters of Business Taxation, his primary focus for the past 28 years has been on tax compliance, planning, and succession. Along with Dave’s diligent efforts in understanding tax code, his relational nature in how he connects and communicates with clients has aided in them defining and achieving their specific financial goals. His career has allowed him to spend time with and learn from successful business owners. He values the opportunities to apply lessons he’s learned over the past 33 years to be able to help others be financially successful.
When he’s recharging away from the office, Dave enjoys spending time with his family and friends at their lake house, cooking, and being on the boat.
Rick often jokes that he’s a “reluctant accountant.” He says that after earning a degree in finance, it was his strong interest in business (not numbers) that steered him into the accounting realm. Since joining Froehling Anderson in 2003, Rick has focused his practice on helping clients with their accounting, tax and business consulting needs. He currently leads the firm’s Business Consulting Department. As a partner who has previously served as a CFO of a public company, he has a strong understanding of the real-world pressures business owners’ face.
Rick and his team of business-savvy accountants help their clients do more than “save a few bucks with the IRS.” He’s tenacious about understanding what makes a client or business tick. “Understanding their processes helps me understand the underlying reasons why certain transactions occur,” he explains. For Rick, it’s all about the people. “I really enjoy the relationships—with clients, colleagues, and business partners—that I’ve been blessed with over the years,” he says.
When he’s recharging away from the office, Rick values time with his wife and three kids. Together they enjoy boating, outdoor activities, and volunteering at their church.
Wade took an accounting class in high school and was immediately drawn to the profession. He enjoyed what he was learning to the point of making a definitive decision about turning this into a long-term career. He has had the unique experience of working for three different firms of all sizes. This has provided him ample opportunities to interact with a wide variety of clients, giving him insight and knowledge into different industries and client types.
Wade has been in public accounting since 2001 and joined the Froehling Anderson team in 2006. He really enjoys getting to know his clients and finding ways to connect on both a professional and personal level. He thrives on finding ways to help them be in the best possible tax situation.
When he’s recharging away from the office, Wade enjoys playing a round of golf, being outdoors, and having fun with friends.
Al is a tax attorney and chair of Froehling Anderson’s Tax Department. Since joining the firm in 2000, he’s used his unique skill set (he is an attorney, CPA, and holds a Master of Laws in Taxation), to help his clients navigate the odd and difficult tax issues. He jokes that you will never meet a teenager who aspires to be a tax attorney; however, it’s easy to see the role fits him well.
Al has always been interested in business. He recalls that as a young college student, he discovered “accounting is business applied to numbers.” It is no surprise that Al’s favorite part of his practice is learning about his clients’ businesses. “The devil is in the details,” he explains. “The more I know, the more I am able to apply my expertise.”
When he’s recharging away from the office, Al enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids. During the summer months, the family revels in all kinds of “Minnesota” activities, including water sports, boating and fishing.
When Dan decides to do something, he does it with his whole heart. Since entering the public accounting field in 1985, he has dedicated his practice to going the extra mile for his clients. “When it comes down to it, I simply have a passion and dedication for what I do,” he says. Dan joined Froehling Anderson in 1997 and is a leader in the firm’s Tax Department. In this role, he oversees the tax and consulting needs of closely held businesses, families and individuals. Together with his team, he guides clients to a solution that makes sense for them. For Dan, being able to share in the solution is what it’s all about. A self-professed “foodie,” Dan is also passionate about sampling the latest additions to the Twin Cities restaurant scene.
When he’s recharging away from the office, Dan can usually be found spending time with his wife and three kids, following sports, and biking.
Doris quickly learned that working in the accounting industry was something she really enjoyed. Her passion for building relationships with her clients and helping them achieve their goals has become her driving force in all she does. Her exposure to the accounting industry came from her brother, but her experience came from her first job at a small CPA firm in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Discovering she wanted to learn and know more, Doris’ St. Cloud firm helped her go back to school to pursue a 4-year degree, and she’s never looked back. She celebrates being in public accounting for over 20 years and has been with the Froehling Anderson team since 2009.
When she’s recharging away from the office, Doris enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and their dogs. They enjoy camping at local state parks, watching old movies, and visiting local wineries.
Robb was drawn to the accounting industry because of his love for puzzles. Both accounting and puzzles require him to exercise his analytical and problem-solving skills, which translates into the work he does for his clients. He really enjoys working alongside closely held businesses to use his listening and analytical skills to help them make sound business decisions, adding value to the work they are already doing.
The vast experience and knowledge Robb has with tax, audit, CFO services, and business valuations contribute to the success he sees with each of his clients. The work he does often doesn’t feel like work to him because of the natural ability he has to identify a problem and provide a solution that produces effective outcomes.
When he’s recharging away from the office, Robb enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, doing puzzles, and watching sports.
